WE INSPIRE JOY THROUGH THE MAGIC OF exploratory-BASED ART and PLAY
Building Joy is a home-based creative space for exploratory art and play. We invite children into a world of curiosity where they are allowed to explore and create what their heart desires. We also offer women collaborative events where you are welcomed to relax and create whilst building a sense of community.
Process Over Perfection: The Heart of Our Art
We believe that the true magic of creativity happens in the messy, unscripted moments of exploration. Whether it is a child discovering the squish of paint or a woman rediscovering her inner artist, our philosophy is simple: we value the journey more than the final result.
Hi, I'm Meg.
I have over a decade of experience in teaching art to primary school children, along with a deep passion for supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and development. Over the years, I’ve also facilitated Mindfulness classes for children and completed a course in Life Coaching. I’m also a proud mum to two little ones, who continue to be my greatest teachers and daily reminders of the beauty of presence, play, and curiosity.
I’m currently expanding my knowledge by studying Executive Functioning Skills, deepening my understanding of how children develop attention, planning, flexible thinking, and self-regulation.
Throughout my years of teaching, I’ve always been drawn to giving children the freedom to create. Working within formal institutions, I often found myself pushing gently against the “cookie-cutter” approach, choosing instead to make space for individuality, imagination, and self-expression wherever possible. I’ve always been fascinated by the way each child shows up in the world - how they think, how they feel, and how they communicate through their play and creativity.
I am a firm believer in independent play, and I see art as so much more than simply putting paint on a page. Art is experimentation. It’s problem-solving. It’s creating imaginary worlds. It’s the courage to try, explore, and make mistakes. These are the experiences that build confidence in children and support their emotional growth.
Alongside my love for creativity, I’ve always been drawn to connection and community. And now, I finally have the space to bring women from all walks of life together—to slow down, create, and connect through the simple joy of making.
In many ways, I’m now bridging my two worlds: adult life and the playful, curious, carefree way of being, that children so beautifully remind us we can return to.
